Dr. Laena Karnstedt, MD is a board certified Internal Medicine physician who brings over 25 years of experience in Internal Medicine to WMG.
Dr. Karnstedt is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. She received her medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1991. She then completed her internship at University Hospital in Cincinnati and went on to complete her residency training at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston.
In 2000, Dr. Karnstedt and her family settled down in Northeast Georgia. She has since been a reliable fixture to her patients here, practicing primary care internal medicine in both private and hospital practice.
She started at WMG, during the COVID- 19 pandemic advising patients through testing and recovery. Dr. Karnstedt is a teacher at heart, having trained and supervised medical professionals throughout her career. Dr. Karnstedt’s passion is in treating women's health and mental health. In 2008, the Hall County Chapter of The American Heart Association, awarded Dr Karnstedt their Physician of the Year award for her advocacy in women's health.
